Emperor Wensic I,[1] also known by the nickname "Wensic Menemtahe",[1][n 1] was the fourteenth Emperor of the Known Universe (r. 240–345 AG), succeeding his brother Rugo I Saluso II.[1]

Reign[]

The Imperium had grown prosperous over the centuries after the introduction of the Spacing Guild and creation of CHOAM. During that time, the social structure of the Imperium (especially the faufreluches class system) passed from custom into common law. The most powerful Houses Major began to seek to put these traditions into writing. This movement gained momentum over the years and the early 330s, the aging Wensic I threw his support behind the idea. Delegates were chosen for a Great Synod (330–340), held on Urbanus II. The emperor personally presided over the Synod, showing the interest of the Imperial House in the project. The result of the Synod was the Great Convention, which remained in effect for almost ten millennia.[2]

Wensic was succeeded (perhaps removed from the throne) in 345 AG by Alman IV of the House of Alman Corrino, a rival branch of the imperial dynasty. Wensic's descendants reclaimed the throne in 416 AG, under his grandson Sheuset II Costin II.[1]
