Baron Vladimir Harkonnen was the head of House Harkonnen and the uncle of Glossu Rabban and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.

Background[]
Vladimir Harkonnen was successful in causing House Atreides's Suk Doctor, Wellington Yueh, to betray them. However, his efforts failed when Yueh's betrayal was discovered by Lady Jessica due to her training as a Truthsayer. The Atreides were therefore prepared for the Harkonnens' attack and survived the Battle of Arrakeen. The two houses later became engaged in a War of Assassins.[1]
