I'm an Original Dune fan, where there are discrepancies =l Dune has to take precedence - more often than not FH knew what he was doing and did things for a reason - Paul was born on Caladan, because in the Greek hero myth the hero always starts his journey at home, that sort of thing.
I'm not opposed to new Dune in principle... but the more I read, the more it seems that Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson JUST DON'T GET DUNE. Which is a crying shame and a terrible missed opportunity. Byron Merritt says that when they're finished writing nu-dune books they may donate the notes to Fullerton - IMHO that day cannot come soon enough!
Stuff what I have done. Edit
I have re-created the typeface that was used on the American Ace Editions (Published by The Berkley Publishing Group) of Dune and many other Frank Herbert books (Such as Whipping Star and The Jesus Incident) for around a decade, from the early 70s through to the early 80s. Version 1.0 is uploaded for download as a TrueType Font from dunefont.kullwahad.com - Have a gander!
I also run kullwahad.com a blog currently home to a reguarly updated list of Dune Links and all the latest on Pierre Morel's new Dune movie... and more in the future.
My favourite pagesEdit
- Discrepancies between Dune novels - I'm in two minds about this article, on one hand it comes across as nit-picking and misrepresents why most people dislike the prequels.. but on the other - how the hell did they get all this stuff wrong! (*And it still needs issues from Legends of Dune, the Dune 7s and WOD adding). Essential reading for anyone who still thinks the new authors know anything about Dune.
