"Oh, my poor child of the tube. Your life is not yours. Your memories and identity are product, code, content. You are one of many, a ghoulish fractal, repeating and repeating and repeating. Every horror you've faced in this lab emerged from the same slime you congealed in."
―The Face Dancer to the Prisoner[src]

A Face Dancer impersonated a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother and assigned the Prisoner to find the Fremen on Arrakis.

Biography[]

Awakening[]

The Face Dancer took the form of a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother and summoned the Prisoner, asking them several questions about their birthplace, caste and training. They then ordered the Prisoner to kneel before them and tested them with the Gom Jabbar. During the test, they told the Prisoner that their mission was to travel to Arrakis and find the Fremen, for everything that the Sisterhood were working towards depended on it.

The Face Dancer was later found in Old Carthag by the Prisoner and Zantara. They asked them what they sought, declaring that the Sleeper was not there. The Prisoner and Zantara held their blades to the Face Dancer's throat, challenging them to use the Voice to withdraw. Commending them, the Face Dancer revealed their true nature. Zantara demanded to know what the Bene Tleilax wanted with him and the Face Dancer took the form of Ariste Atreides, stating that they were interested in his true royal self. The Face Dancer then revealed that the Prisoner was a ghola, taking the forms of Count Hasimir Fenring, the Glutton, the Paranoid, the Water Shipper and the Jackal in quick succession, asking if they felt nothing as they murdered their siblings. As they told the Prisoner of the true nature of their existence, Zantara threatened the Face Dancer with his blade. They then ordered the Prisoner to kill Zantara. Zantara slashed the Face Dancer's throat before they could finish giving the order, but the Prisoner fatally stabbed Zantara due to their Tleilaxu conditioning. As the Face Dancer died, they told the Prisoner that they still did not know the cadaver from which they were scraped.[1]
