Past tense[]
I was wondering if its a good idea to have most of this article written in the past tense. I am aware of the fate of The Makers but I believe someone who is just starting to read Dune would be subjected to a bit of a spoiler. Also for purely athstetic (sp) reasons, should we change it to present tense?

- Hi Jsblack, and welcome to the Dune Wiki! The article being in the past tense is a deliberate tactic (content in the past tense is a common style which helps build a cohesive style for the wiki). It's designed as if one is looking back on the complete history of the Dunuiverse. But I don't know if that's really explained on the welcome page, so thanks for the catch. We'll try to make that clearer.
- As for the spoiler issue, it says on the main page the wiki contains spoilers. But that's probably not enough. Some pages, like those of key elements which span most or all of the novels (like sandworms), probably need more of a warning. I'll work on a template which we can add to such articles. Again, thanks for the feedback. --Careax 03:55, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi Careax! Thanks for the clarification. I'm a huge dune fan and was really excited to fine a wiki about it. I dont know if youve seen the star wars wiki but, its probably one of the most comprehensive fan-created sites ive ever seen. I think it would be really great if the dune wiki was on par with that one!

- I believe sand was their primary food source. It's a great question, and I'll add the topic as a section to the article. Thanks! --Careax 16:04, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Sandworns are not native on Arrakis. Leto II, talking with Ghanima, explains that Arrakis was once a wet planet, until sandtrouts were introduced into it. 95.61.14.64 14:51, December 26, 2013 (UTC)
