Emperor Sheuset II Costin II,[1] also known simply as Sheuset II,[2] ruled as Emperor of the Known Universe (r. 416–445 AG), assuming the throne after the overthrow of Wallach I in 416. Sheuset II was a grandson of Wensic I (r. 240–345).[1]
Reign[]
Sheuset II showed an interest in the penal colony development program on Salusa Secundus, initiated under his predecessors Saudir III (388–389) and Wallach I (390–416). Sheuset is noted for his scientific curiosity and he kept close eye on mortality rates among the prisoners on the planet. The emperor waged several wars for the sole purpose of gathering more prisoners to offset the losses.[3]
Sheuset was overthrown in 445, when Saudir II Harkonnen, son of Saudir III, organized a revolt of the provincial Sardaukar and took the throne as Emperor Saudir IV after a brief battle. Sheuset was deposed and forced into exile.[2] Sheuset was the last emperor of the House of Saluso Corrino, the original ruling branch of the imperial House Corrino.[1]
