Sarah Butler was the aborted daughter of Jehanne and Thet'r Butler.
Biography[]
Abortion[]
In 205 BG, Jehanne Butler conceived Sarah with her husband Thet'r. Jehanne, as a result of her Bene Gesserit Training, had deep knowledge of her child while she was in the womb. Jehanne was a part of the Bene Gesserit Breeding Program and her daughter was to birth a male, who would be the Kwisatz Haderach.[1][2] Later that year, Jehanne went to a hospital in Pylos, the capital city of her homeplanet Komos, to give birth. On the delivery table, Jehanne was anesthetized. When she awoke, she and Thet'r were informed that Sarah had been aborted as she was too deformed to survive. The doctors described the abortion as therapeutic.[3]
Legacy[]
Jehanne's advanced knowledge of the status of her child convinced her that the doctor's reasoning could not be truthful and that Sarah could have survived. Jehanne, using Thet'r's permissions granted to him as Logistos of Xania, dug through official records and discovered that the hospital director, the first programming machine on Komos, has instituted a program of unjustified abortions. Jehanne, using this evidence and the story of her murdered child, inspired a revolt on Komos, the Front for the End of Koman Exploitation. Jehanne and the members of the coup soon discovered that the hospital's state was indicitive of the universe as a whole and their Front would eventually develop into the Butlerian Jihad.[3] Jehanne's flagship in the Jihad was named the Sarah III in honor of her aborted child.[3]
