Rhombur Vernius was the son of Dominic Vernius, brother of Kailea Vernius, best friend of Duke Leto Ateides I and husband of the Bene GesseritTessia.
Rhombur Vernius resided on Ix until its overthrow by the Imperial Sardaukar and Bene Tleilax. Rhombur along with his sister Kailea Vernius, and Leto Atreides I (not yet Duke) narrowly escaped the attack contrived by Hasmir Fenring and Shaddam Corrino IV to take over Ix to research and hopefully produce synthetic spice known as Amal along with the [[Bene .
Years later, Rhombur Vernius was mangled almost beyond repair in the assasination attempt on Duke Leto Atreides I by Kailea Vernius. Through the efforts of the Suk Doctor Wellington Yueh, Rhombur was rehabilitated into a half-cyborg human form.
As a result of his near death in the assasination attempt on Duke Leto I and the urging and support of Bene Gesserit Tessia, Rhombur overcame his complacency and later contrived a plan along with Duke Leto I and Duncan Idaho to retake Ix from the Bene Tleilax. Along with Atreides support and C'tair Pilru Rhombur was able to retake Ix.
