Quentin Butler [b. 174 BG] was a military commander during the Butlerian Jihad. During the war against the thinking machines he rose who rose to become Primero. During the main conflict Quentin was equal in rank - but not in reputation - to Vorian Atreides.

Quentin's original surname was Vigar, but after marrying Wandra Butler, the daughter of Xavier Harkonnen and Octa Butler, he followed her lead and adopted her mother's prestigious surname.

Military Career

Quentin distinguished himself during the Jihad with his strength and tactical abilities. At one point he served with two of his three sons: Rikov and Faykan. He effectively shunned his third son, Abulurd, blaming him for the brain damage suffered by Wandra during Abulurd's birth.

Quentin participated in the liberation of Parmentier with his sons, and then the battle of Ix where he almost buried himself alive after an explosion. After that experience, Quentin ever felt uneasy in confined places.

Life with the Titans

After his retirement Quentin traveled with the philanthropist Porce Bludd, seeking out and aiding human victims of the earlier atomic blitz against Omnius. The thinking machines were pinned back by the League of Nobles, but another often overlooked group - the Titans - was still in existence, and looking to expand their influence.

Quentin was captured by the Titans during a routine inspection of a decimated world. After realizing who he was, the Titans transferred the mortally wounded Primero's brain into a preservation canister.

The Titans spent the next few years trying to indoctrinate Quentin, but with limited success. Eventually he was discovered by his old friend and colleague Vorian Atreides, who had sought out his father Titan Agamemnon with the intention of destroying them from the inside.

Death

Quentin played an integral role in Vorian's plans to destroy the Titans, and ultimately died in a kamikaze attack against Dante, the final Titan left alive, as he attempted to escape.
