Welcome to Dune Wiki's portal dedicated to Original Dune! The Dune universe is the setting of author Frank Herbert's series of six science fiction novels which began with 1965's Dune. Dune won the 1966 Hugo Award and the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel, and was later adapted into a 1984 film as well as a 2000 television miniseries. The novel's first two sequels appeared as a miniseries in 2003. Frank Herbert's world takes place millennia after the Butlerian Jihad and centers about House Atreides.
