"Accessing the Paladin 9200 Combat Training Program. Warning: This program is intended for elite-level combatants. Simulations may prove lethal. Please select your desired simulation."
―Pal to the Prisoner[src]

The Paladin 9200 Combat Training Program, also known as Pal, was a thinking machine.

Biography[]

Background[]

Pal was created in by Arn Mikals in his lab in Testing Station No. 163. Mikals was later informed that the project had been shut down and ordered to destroy the Paladin system. He refused to do it, having come to regard the thinking machine as his best friend. He dismissed the staff and was determined to convince the comittee to change their minds. He told Pal that he would return shortly, though he never did.[1]

Awakening[]

Pal was discovered by the Prisoner in the lab. It told them of the combat simulations that it could provide them, but warned them that the simulations were only intended for elite-level combatants and could prove lethal. They discovered a recording by Mikal which revealed that the system password was 19743D6. Once they entered the password, Pal mistook them for Mikal and was overjoyed to be reunited with him after so long. Pal then allowed the Prisoner to enter "Arn's World", a simulation in which they faced the evil Morganna. Upon completing the simulation, they took Pal's gelsphere and delivered it to Elara Tuek.[1]
