- "I knew that you would come. I saw you in my dreams. Even my loyal lieutenants were unable to keep you at bay. And for what? I did everything that you asked of me. "Find the Fremen?" There were no Fremen to find. So I did the next best thing. I created new Fremen. Better Fremen. My Maas Kharet. Still, it is never enough. I'm tired of being afraid. Tired of the voices that they put in my head. Please, let us end this. One way or another!"
- ―Nahla to the Prisoner[src]
Nahla, also known as The Paranoid, was the leader of the Maas Kharet.
Biography[]
Background[]
Nahla was sent to Arrakis to find the Fremen, but never found them. Seeking to create new and better Fremen, she founded the Maas Kharet.[1]
Awakening[]
Nahla was approached by the Prisoner in the O'odham after they had defeated her lieutenants. She told them of her frustration with her mission what led to her creating the Maas Kharet. Seeking to put an end to the voices in her head, she attacked the Prisoner, but was overpowered and fatally stabbed. As she bled to death, she declared that the heavens stood open and scattered their riches and that she must open her hands to gather their wealth. She wondered why she thought of an ambush, poison in her molten cup and why she felt her years. She declared that loves arms beckoned with their naked delights and Eden's promises of ecstasies. She remembered her scars and dreams of old transgressions. She wondered why she slept with fears before falling over dead.[1]
