- "Name's Myr. I do the trading and the talking. My silent partner here does the fighting. And there's a contract board in the corner, if you need work."
- ―Myr Charki to the Prisoner[src]
Myr Charki was a trader.
Biography[]
Background[]
Myr Charki previously lived on Rossack, but later bartered his way off the planet and left for Arrakis. One night, he offered a patrol of troopers from House Harkonnen a place to sleep one night. When he awoke, they had all left except for one, Ihor. Chakri believed that the Troop Sergeant recognised the value of his establishment and had left Ihor behind to protect the Harkonnen's interests. He made Ihor his silent partner, with him handling the business while Ihor handled the fighting.[1]
Awakening[]
Chakri was approached by the Prisoner at the Griffin's Reach Tradepost. He did not recognise them, despite knowing the face of every bandit, scavenger and mercenary from Griffin's Reach to Harko Village. He demanded to know who they were and why Arrakis' airspace was crawling with Sardaukar. They told him that they had arrived on the Proteus and escaped from a Sardaukar. He expressed doubt over their story and answered their questions about Zantara, the Fremen and the conflict between House Atreides and House Harkonnen, the latter of which he was a staunch supporter. He also informed them of the Anvil Tradepost, which he said was run by "Smiley" Tyg Rolsum, and of a nearby Desert Biological Testing Station which was being auditted by the ecologist Derek Chinara.[1]
