- "I am Levenbrech Maxim Kazmir, intelligence officer of great House Harkonnen."
- ―Maxim Kazmir to the Prisoner[src]
Levenbrech Maxim Kazmir was an intelligence agent of House Atreides.
Biography[]
Background[]
Maxim Kazmir carried out espionage missions for House Harkonnen in the War of Assassins. During the conflict, he developed a rivalry with Anton Tolliver, an soldier of House Atreides. He was assigned a mission by Duke Leto Atreides in which he was station in The Anvil Tradepost.[1]
Awakening[]
Kazmir was approached by Tolliver and informed him that a cousin of his had died. Kazmir's response was nonchalant, outraging Tolliver, who stated that he would be stuck there forever, as even his own Harkonnen masters despised him. They almost attacked each other until Tyg Rolsum and reminded them of the laws of Kanly. Kazmir was then approached by the Prisoner and told them that while Tolliver was a strong combatant, he was not suited to matters of intrigue. He invited them to join House Harkonnen, tasking them with locating an asset of his who had vanished while trailing an Atreides agent. He was uninterested in his own asset and ordered them to bring him all of the information he could gather from the Atreides agent. He then advised them to approach Tolliver and accept his mission, but to bring the findings to him instead.
Once they returned with the information, he informed the Prisoner that the Atreides agent had been a spy training an Atreides deserter, Lieutenant Tighe Skorda. He stated that it was a delicate matter for the Atreides, as Duke Leto Atreides had intervened on Skorda's behalf several years previously, which would cause a scandal if discovered. He offered to help them if they aided him in getting out of the Anvil by getting back into the good graces of House Harkonnen. He then tasked them with planting incriminating evidence of an Atreides fortress.[1]
