"The cost of freedom and justice is never too high. Every mission we complete, every campaign and every sacrifice we make brings us one step closer to a lasting peace and a brighter future for House Atreides. Our troops are well trained and well prepared to face the challenges before them. They do so with unwavering resolve."
―Marcus Amstraad to Redondo Monroe[src]

Captain Marcus Amstraad was a soldier of House Atreides.

Biography[]

Background[]

Marcus Amstraad was a member of the Fighting Fifth.[1]

Awakening[]

Amstraad was interviewed by Redondo Monroe on Through Their Eyes: Firsthand Accounts from the Frontlines. He spoke of the troops' operations in the Hagga Basin and their importance in strenghening House Atreides' position in the War of Assassins. Monroe asked him about the heavy losses the Atreides had sustained, which Amstraad stated to be a necessary sacrifice. Mornoe then mentioned previous interviews he had conducted with Sergeants Creel and Aric Thorne, who had discussed the emotional toll that combat had taken on them. He pointed out that many felt that the cost of the war was too high, to which Amstraad replied that the cost of freedom and justice is never too high. Monroe then asked about potential harm to civilians, with Amstraad insisting that Atreides troops prevented this by following the principles of the Great Convention. He also dismissed claims of misconduct by Atreides troops, attributing them to mistakes made under pressure. He finished the interview with a statement assuring the families of Atreides soldiers that their loved ones fought for a just and noble cause.[1]
