Liene was a guard in the service of House Atreides.

Liene was standing guard outside the Arrakeen governor's palace when she was approached by the Prisoner. She asked them their business and they presented a token, which they said was given to them by Ariste Atreides, who told them that they would help them inside. Liene replied that Ariste had told her to bring them and to make sure that Lady Jessica did not find out. She ordered them to hand over their weapons and clothes, giving them a servant's outfit to allow them to blend in. She then led them into the palace.[1]
