Duke Leto Atreides was the head of House Atreides and the father of Ariste Atreides.

Background[]
Leto was the Duke of Caladan and took Jessica of the Bene Gesserit as his concubine. Jessica later gave birth to his daughter Ariste.
He was later appointed as Steward of Arrakis by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV. Due to her training as a Truthsayer, Jessica discovered that their Suk Doctor, Wellington Yueh, had betrayed them to House Harkonnen. House Atreides were thus prepared for the Harkonnens' attack and survived the Battle of Arrakeen and maintained control of Arrakis. However, the two houses later became engaged in a War of Assassins.[1]
Awakening[]
The Prisoner was assigned several missions by the Atreides' Mentat, Thufir Hawat. Upon completing these missions, they earned Hawat's trust and he brought them before Duke Leto, where they pledged their allegiance to House Atreides.[1]
