Last Unicorn Games was an American developer and publisher of tabletop roleplaying games and collectible card games.
Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Last Unicorn Games was owned by Christian Moore. The company was eventually bought by Wizards of the Coast, the Dungeons and Dragons publishers and rights holders, in the early 2000s. Last Unicorn games ceased operations in the spring of 2001, with some of its staff moving to former rival CCG and RPG publisher Decipher. [1]
Dune: Chronicles of the Imperium[]
Dune: Chronicles of the Imperium was the first-ever officially licensed tabletop RPG based on the Dune universe. The game was set roughly in the era shortly before the events of the first Dune novel and focused on the retainers of the houses of the Imperium. The game's adventures had something of a diplomatic and espionage undertone.
The RPG only had a very limited and short-lived print run, largelly down to a legal obligation by WotC towards Last Unicorn Games. Though expansions and supplements were planned, only the initial core book was ever published. The RPG is now defunct and the core book has become a much sought after collector's item, with individual copies valued at very high prices on the RPG collectors' market.
