Biography[]
Keiran, a swordmaster, trained with the princess Ynez Corrino. He insisted she was improving, though she knew he was just flattering her. He said he knew she'd do well on Wallach IX, where she was going to train with the Sisterhood. When Ynez was betrothed to Pruwet Richese, she decided to enjoy one last night of freedom before her wedding. She met Keiran at a bar and they had sex in a back room.[3]
Following the death of Pruwet Richese, Javicco ordered Desmond Hart be detained and told Keiran to make sure he didn't get out. Keiran did so and then used everyone being distracted by the death to scan the palace, including the throne room, which he handed over to the rebellion, his true alliance. Mikaela doubted his allegiance, but he assured her that he abhorred the way the elites hoarded spice, forcing people to resort to violence just to get what they needed to stay alive.
Keiran then returned to the palace and sparred with Ynez, who told him she had learned some things from Kasha in preparation for her going to the school to train. She also told him about learning about politics due to being taken from her bed, along with her brother, during a rebellion. Keiran had never heard about it because the family covered it up to avoid looking weak. They then kissed, but Ynez pulled back and said they couldn't. It was different when she thought she was about to leave.[4]
Keiran went with Horace to meet Duri, who sold them a drone he said would make a large explosion. They took it back to show Mikaela and then Horace began programming in the palace schematics. The plan was for Horace to release it into the vents and then Keiran would open the grate on the other side before leaving the palace. Mikaela asked if Keiran believed he was really up for it, sensing that he even doubted himself.
Later, Keiran was shocked when Ynez came into the club. He pulled her away from the others and explained that he believed they'd traded one kind of overlords for another when they defeated the thinking machines. Then he refuses Ynez's advances.
At the High Council the next day, Keiran began to remove the grate, but stopped when he saw Ynez come in and publicly accuse her parents of covering up Pruwet's murder. He then watched, along with the others, as Desmond admitted to killing Pruwet, but called it an execution because he had a thinking machine. He said they needed to be stronger against thinking machines. Then he had Horace and Duri brought out and publicly executed them and revealed their plot to kill Javicco and everyone else in the room, though Keiran's role in this remained hidden.[5]
When Desmond came to Keiran saying he was hunting insurgents and invited Keiran to come along, Keiran went to Mikaela and warned her she needed to leave to protect herself. Mikaela told him she was okay and showed him the chain detonators she had purchased. He helped her set them up and then when Desmond came in and discovered her secret room, he detonated them and then helped Mikaela get out, killing several soldiers on the way. Once they were out, he told her recognized her knife and realized she was part of the Sisterhood. He left, saying he didn't want to see her again.
Keiran returned to the palace, where Constantine thanked Keiran for helping him remember his purpose and then Keiran was arrested, as Constantine had given the guards evidence of Keiran's betrayal. When Ynez learned he'd been arrested, she went to home and used Truthsense to determine if he was lying when she asked if it was all a lie. He told her he cared for her which is why he couldn't go through with killing her family. He chose her over his principles. He also told her he truly believed they could bring forward a better Imperium.[6]
Keiran was tortured as Desmond interrogated him. Keiran denied knowledge of any involvement by the Sisterhood and said his father had taught him never to trust a Harkonnen after his entire family was killed by one. Desmond said Keiran could avenge his family name by testifying at the Landsraad, but Keiran said he hated Desmond and Javicco, so he wouldn't do that.
When Ynez tried to break Keiran out, she was arrested herself. When he woke up, he told her she shouldn't be there. Valya had also been arrested and they watched as she used The Voice to order her own release. Then she released Ynez and said she'd be taking Ynez away until they could sort things out for her to take the throne. Ynez refused to leave without Keiran, so Valya freed him as well and they took a suspensor car to leave. When they landed, Valya said she could get them off the planet in a courier ship. Then she sent Keiran and Ynez ahead while she stayed behind to delay the guards. On the way, they were stopped by guards, but were able to use their training with swords to kill them. They made it to the ship, which took them to Arrakis, where Valya said the path to their enemy started.[7]
