Jon Spaihts is an American screenwriter and author.

General overview[]

Spaihts was commissioned by Scott Free to write the next installments in the Alien saga, two prequel films to be directed by Ridley Scott, which eventually turned into the more autonomous story Prometheus, ultimately revised by Damon Lindelof.[1] Spaihts also co-wrote the script for Marvel Studios' 2016 live action Doctor Strange film.[2] He also co-wrote the reboot of The Mummy franchise for Universal, directed by Alex Kurtzman.[3]

In 2018, it was revealed that Spaihts would be co-writing Legendary Pictures's feature film adaptation of the science fiction novel Dune, alongsideEric Roth and director Denis Villeneuve.[4] For his work on Dune, Spaihts was nominated alongside Roth and Villeneuve for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.[5]

In addition to it being produced by Villeneuve, the Dune sequel was announced to be produced by Spaihts, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter, with Tanya Lapointe, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Richard P. Rubinstein, John Harrison, and Herbert W. Gain serving as executive producers and Kevin J. Anderson as creative consultant.[6] Furthermore, Spaihts was later confirmed to be co-writing the script alongside Roth and Villeneuve.[7]
