Lady Jessica Atreides was a Bene Gesserit Truthsayer, the concubine of Duke Leto Atreides and the mother of Ariste Atreides.

Jessica was trained by the Bene Gesserit and later became the concubine of Duke Leto Atreides. She was ordered by the Sisterhood to only give birth to daughters. She birthed a daughter named Ariste, whom the Sisterhood intended to marry Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen to produce the Kwisatz Haderach.
Jessica was trained as a Truthsayer and used these skills to learn that House Atreides' Suk Doctor, Wellington Yueh, had betrayed them to House Harkonnen. The Atreides were thus prepared for the Harkonnens' attack and survived the Battle of Arrakeen, though the two houses later became engaged in a War of Assassins.[1]
