Biography[]
Against his desires, Javicco's daughter, Ynez, was betrothed to Pruwet Richese. Javicco met with Pruwet's father, Ferdinand, arranging an exchange of goods as part of the wedding proceedings. Javicco wasn't certain the deal was best for him but his Truthsayer, Kasha Jinjo, persuaded him to go for it.
Javicco was surprised when Desmond Hart came to see him, as he believed Desmond had died in an attack that killed everyone else he was with. Desmond explained that the attack had come from Javicco's own allied worlds. Kasha told Javicco that Desmond's story was true or at least, he believed it was Javicco then promised to find Desmond an assignment at the palace.
Javicco had a disagreement with his wife over Ynez's betrothal. He felt that he had no choice, while she said he should have tried harder to stop it.
At the engagement party, when Pruwet pulled out a thinking machine toy, there was uproar as Natalya reminded him that the technology is prohibited. When Ynez stepped up to defend him, Javicco decided to overlook it.
Javicco talked to Desmond again and Desmond talked about not understanding how he died, but how it strengthened his faith as he believed the gods had intervened. Javicco confessed that he wasn't much of a believer and that he was only going along with the wedding because of Kasha's influence, because she'd never led him wrong before. He also said that if he could somehow get out of the wedding, he'd become a true believer. That night, Javicco pulled up footage of the harvester attack and watched it.[3]
Javicco went to see Desmond and said tragedy seemed to follow him. Desmond didn't consider Pruwet's death a tragedy and indicated to Javicco that he'd done it on Javicco's request. Javicco denied asking for it and had Desmond arrested.
Javicco when went to Natalya and told her about Desmond getting a gift from being eaten by a sandworm. Natalya realized that Desmond might be of some benefit to them with that power.
Javicco then told Ferdinand that he'd ordered a full investigation, but denied having a suspect in custody. Valya then arrived with the news that Kasha had died as well. Javicco agreed to allow Valya to interrogate Desmond. They watched as she did so and he confessed to killing Pruwet and said he was loyal to the Imperium. Valya said that he was telling what he believed was the truth, but his claims were lies. She encouraged them to act quickly, though Javicco and Natalya were more hesitant and said that Valya needed to provide proof of how Desmond killed Pruwet and Kasha at the same time or keep her mouth shut about it.
Javicco met with Ferdinand and said that he knew his pain, but he couldn't allow Ferdinand to back out their deal. Ferdinand said Javicco was weak, so Javicco had Desmond come in and use his power on Ferdinand, causing him extreme pain. Javicco then had Desmond to stop. He told him to go home, bury his son, and never tell anyone what had happened.[4]
When Ynez saw her family dining with Desmond, she asked if they had heard the tumor that Desmond had killed Pruwet. Javicco said he'd heard it, but was more concerned with the lack of respect than Desmond having done it. Regardless, he insisted that Ynez stand with the family to show a united front. Ynez told him plainly that that wouldn't be possible as long as he had Desmond by his side.
Javicco then spoke privately with Desmond, who was destroying Kasha's Sisterhood book. He told Javicco about all the influence that the Sisterhood had had on the Great Houses and said he wanted all of them to remove their Truthsayers as it left them vulnerable to that influence. He wanted Javicco to use the High Council to try to influence this, but Javicco decided he wasn't ready to risk being overthrown like that.
When Javicco talked to Natalya about it, wanting to get ahead of the accusations, Javicco insisted it would blow over. They appeared to the High Council and Javicco was shocked when Harrow Harkonnen asked publicly for Pruwet Richese's death to be investigated. When Ynez connected that accusation to her parents, Desmond stepped in and admitted to killing him, but said it was an execution because Pruwet had a thinking machine. He also had the guards bring in two rebels he'd had them capture who were part of a plot to kill Javicco and everyone else in the room. He showed them the drone that they planned to use to do it, then destroyed it. Then he publicly executed the two criminals, plus Lord Hagal, something that caused him visible pain and caused his back to bleed.
Javicco found Desmond and said he didn't know it hurt Desmond. Desmond said it happened every time, which was why he had scars on his back. Javicco assured Desmond he could stay at the palace.[5]
Soon after this, Javicco appeared with his family to announce a new unit dedicated to finding and eliminating insurgents, led by his new Bashar, Desmond. He was shocked when Francesca turned up to this announcement, saying Constantine had written to her and she was there to see her son.
Javicco later spoke to Francesca privately and asked why she was there. She told him he needed to start trusting Constantine with more responsibility, so he'd have a chance to prove himself. She reminded him that he was a lot like Constantine when he was young. When he kissed her, she told him she hadn't come to drive a wedge between him and Natalya.
When Constantine gave the new unit the evidence they needed to arrest Keiran, Javicco honored him at dinner and named him the commander of the new fleet. He also said they'd make an example of Keiran, to show everyone that treachery wouldn't be tolerated. After dinner, he had a private moment with Francesca, in which she unbuttoned his shirt and placed her hand on his bare chest.[6]
Francesca said she was going to leave because Constantine no longer needed her there, but Javicco said he wanted her to stay, that he would find a place for her at the palace. Their conversation was interrupted by a guard coming to tell Javicco that Ynez had been arrested for attempting to release Keiran. Javicco met with Desmond and asked who authorized him to arrest Ynez. Desmond say that was between him and Natalya, but Natalya found her trying to free Keiran and was trying to protect the Imperium. Javicco said he'd be sending Natalya on a goodwill tour and didn't deny that it was so he could spend more time with Francesca. Desmond told him that Mikaela was a Sister and had also plotted his murder and Javicco said he wanted proof, but knew the proof had gone up in flames. He said that he and Valya had their disagreement, but their bond went back decades.
Javicco went to talk to Natalya, who said that Natalya shouldn't have had Ynez arrested without consulting him. She told him it was time to let clearer heads prevail. Javicco realized that Desmond had betrayed him and Ynez was right all along. Natalya told him that going forward, he would appear to be in charge, but her counsel would not be ignored.
Javicco went to see Valya, who was sitting on his throne. She told him that his entire life had been constructed and manipulated by the Sisterhood, including his relationship with Francesca. He was too weak to make decisions for himself. She also told him that they wanted Ynez on the throne and that his time was coming to an end. Javicco ordered the guards to arrest her.
Javicco went to Francesca and told her Valya had told him everything and she could move to her next assignment. Francesca showed him the poisoned needle she had to kill him, but said it was Valya's plan, not hers. He pulled out a knife and told Francesca to stay back as he called for his guards. She knew he couldn't kill her and said they could find a way through this together. Javicco told her it was strange to realize you'd never been free. He could control one thing, though, and stabbed himself with the knife. Francesca gasps and held him, begging him to come back as he bled to death. Natalya came in and saw this and used the poisoned need to kill Francesca. As she went to walk away, Javicco grabbed Natalya's dressed, but she kicked him off and then left, telling the guards Javicco had been killed.[7]
