The Imperial Palace on Kaitain ^[1] housed the Padishah Emperor, the relatives of the House Corrino, the bodyguards and slaves of the House and aristocratic visitors. The Selamlik was a gigantic hall within the palace, entered through the plasteel marble doors, above which was inscribed the words 'Law is the ultimate science'. The hall was lined with banners of the subjigated Houses of the Corrino's that led up to the Golden Lion Throne, where the Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe resided. The Selamlik was usually crowded with Imperial Bodyguards, courtiers Noukkers, pages and hanger-ons.
