An Imperial House is the ruling family of an empire. It most commonly refers to the ruling dynasty of the Imperium (88 BG–13724 AG), which for most of its history ruled the entire galaxy.[1] The first and longest-ruling Imperial House of the Imperium was House Corrino, which ruled (with a few brief interruptions) until its replacement by House Atreides in 10196 AG.
In the Imperium, the immediate relatives of the reigning emperor were referred to as the Imperial Household. Offshoots of the Imperial Household, distaff members of the Imperial Family, and collateral branches were all referred to as Imperial Cousines.[2]
