The rank is mentioned in Dune: House Harkonnen by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. When Captain Kryubi arrests Gurney Halleck, an NCO wearing the insignia of a Harkonnen Immenbrech is mentioned as part of the guard detail.
Behind the Scenes[]
In German the rank means either "Many Breaker" (Immens-) or "Breaker of Bees" (Immen-). The latter is probably used sarcastically for the former, meaning the rank might actually be called an Immensbrech. That means a subordinate (perhaps equal to a Corporal) might be named a Geringbrech, or "Few Breaker".Alternatively the Immen- part could also be based on a finnish word for "virgin" or a frankish dialect word for "anyone".
