House Moritani emerged during the Battle of Corrin (88 BG), when House Corrino ascended to become the first Padishah Emperor. House Moritani had fully supported the Corrino plans. Shesuet Corrino, acknowledging the Moritani contribution to his cause, granted his Moritani allies a Viscount title and the planetary fief of Grumman. Consequently, House Moritani has remained a loyal ally of the Corrino Empire. Behind_the_Scenes

Details on House Moritani are scant in Frank Herbert's original Dune novels. However, some of their history is given in the prequel novels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

In the prequel novels, House Moritani is portrayed as a wild card that doesn't follow accepted rules. They especially don't follow the Emperor's orders.

A much more in-depth House Moritani history can be found in other sources, such as the Dune III MUSH.
