"You've seen...? Very well, let's get this over with. My name is Hester Klimt. Ask your questions."
―Hester Klimt to the Prisoner[src]

Hester Klimt was the assistant of Osten Laithe.

Biography[]

Background[]

Hester Klimt was working at the Imperial Planetologist's Office, during which she met Osten Laithe and became his assistant.[1]

Awakening[]

Klimt was present at the Salusan Bull after the discovery of Laithe's corpse. She was approached by the Prisoner, who questioned her about her relationship with Laithe and her knowledge of the circumstances of his death. She told them that there was no evidence of foul play and lamented that she now had to deal with the fallout, such as cleaning out his office and preparing for his replacement.

The Prisoner later returned and told Klimt that they believed Laithe had been murdered. She denied this at first, but them admitted that he had become very agitated after meeting with a strange woman. She informed them that he had a secret workshop in the Eastern Shield Wall and provided them with the coordinates of its location. She admitted that due to the absence of Laithe and Cyprian Io, she was essentially the acting Planetologist on Arrakis. She informed them that Laithe had been wracked with guilt and haunted over something he had done. She then expressed her belief that Alastair Christian Chim, Ugo Firenze or Ambrose Lucifera were involved in the murder and revealed that Laithe had recently been obsessed with a revolutionary manifesto and had kept the company of shady individuals.[1]
