Henli I al-Qair,[1] also called Henli al-Qair I,[2] was a member of the House of al-Qair who served as regent (and ruler) of the Corrino Imperium in 369–388 AG.[1]
Reign[]
Henli I al-Qair came to power as regent after the deposition and blinding[3] of Emperor Wallach I in 369.[1]
In 381, Alkman Atreides successfully petitioned Henli for the restoration of the County of Thuestes to the Atreides.[4]
In 385–388, several of the noble houses of the Imperium joined together as the Lishash Confederation, which took exception to the supremacy of imperial rule and the proposed division of shares in CHOAM increasing the emperor's votes on the CHOAM board from 20% to 21%.[5] The Lishashi launched surprise attacks on Sardaukar forces within what it claimed at its territory. They were initially relatively successful, even taking a few Sardaukar officers alive (a feat unheard of and which did not happen again until the Arrakis Revolt). Henli replied to the taking of these hostages with "Let them drink blood."; some officers tore out their own throats and others died attacking their captors bare-handed. Henli then struck at the Lishashi with a large fleet of Landsraad armies spearheaded by Sardaukar shock troops. The ferocity and brutality with which the revolt was subsequently suppressed shocked Landsraad General Tomigh, who disbanded the Landsraad forces. Henli then accepted the surrender of what remained of the Lishashi colonies.[5]
Henli and his regency were overthrown in 388 AG by the usurper-emperor Saudir III.[3]
