Harmhab[1] was a Sardaukar commander[1] and an uncle of emperors Hamin Costin VIII and Basil III at-Tam.[2] In 2391 AG, Harmhab usurped the Golden Lion Throne from Basil III[1] and ruled the Corrino Imperium as regent, under the name Harmhab Menemtahe VI, until 2395 AG.[2]
Reign[]
In 2391 AG,[2] Harmhab murdered his nephew, Emperor Basil III at-Tam,[1] and seized control of the imperial government as regent.[2]
Duke Demetrios XVII Atreides objected to Harmhab's usurpation and voiced his opposition in the Landsraad. Harmhab responded by suspending the Landsraad and arresting Demetrios. Dmetrios was then publicly whipped, blinded, and castrated, on successive days. Demetrios was then stripped of all titles and holdings and sent to the imperial zoo, where he was displayed "as a prime example of that endagered species, Homo perduellionis reus"[1] (Latin for "man guilty of treason").
In 2395 AG,[2] Harmhab was deposed in a revolt by his household staff and replaced with Kenric III al-Kam,[1] his first cousin once removed, as emperor.[2] Kenric had Demetrios released and restored to his former position. Kenric ordered that Harmhab be planted in a street up to his neck, and passers-by be offered the opportunity to saw on his neck with a piece of paper.[1]
