Hans Zimmer is a German film score composer, music producer and musician. He has won two Oscars and four Grammys, and has been nominated for three Emmys and a Tony. Zimmer was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph in 2007.[1]

General overview[]

Zimmer spent the early part of his career in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States. He is the head of the film music division at DreamWorks Pictures and DreamWorks Animation studios and works with other composers through the company that he founded, Remote Control Productions, formerly known as Media Ventures.[2] On 18 March 2019, it was announced that Zimmer would be scoring Denis Villeneuve's Dune in 2021.[3]

In late 2021, it was announced that Zimmer would be returning to compose the film's score after doing so for the previous film.[4]Zimmer had composed over 90 minutes of music prior to the announcement of the film to help give Villeneuve inspiration when writing.[5] Two singles were released on February 15, 2024, by WaterTower Music, titled "A Time of Quiet Between the Storms" and "Harvester Attack". The full soundtrack album was released on February 23, 2024.[6] Zimmer began writing music for a potential third Dune film while Denis Villeneuve began writing the film's script.[7]

On the 17th of June 2025, Zimmer confirmed he will be involved in Dune: Messiah, presumably scoring the film as he did the previous two, saying 'I just spoke to Denis. We got something! We got something. We are on our way, let me put it this way. You know - but there's a lot of desert still in front of us'. [8]
