A Glowglobe is a suspensor-buoyed illuminating device. They are self-powered (usually by organic batteries) and usually emit pale yellow light, but can be tuned to a low orange colour. Glowglobes are portable and can follow a person around, or be caged or anchored in a specific location.

The exact workings of glowglobes are not elaborated on, but they can be extinguished with a touch.

Dune (1984) - Suspensor lamps are seen floating in the halls of the governor's palace at Arrakeen.
Frank Herbert's Dune (2000) - Used for lighting caves and caverns of Fremen sietches at night and in areas with no influx of natural light from the outside.
Frank Herbert's Children of Dune (2003) - Used for lighting caves and caverns of Fremen sietches at night and in areas with no influx of natural light from the outside.
Dune (2021) - Suspensor-equipped glowglobes are used for lighting interior spaces and exterior courtyards at Castle Caladan, the governor's palace at Arrakeen and other places.
Dune: Part Two (2024) - Used for lighting Fremen sietches in areas with no influx of natural light from the outside. Small versions also seem to be used for lighting stilltents in the desert. Gurney Halleck uses a small suspensor-equipped glowglobe to provide light in the secret Atreides family atomics vault, once he reveals the location of the vault to Paul, Chani, Stilgar and their companions.
