Florence Pugh is an English actor who portrays the character Princess Irulan Corrino in the 2024 film Dune: Part Two.
General overview[]
Pugh made her professional acting debut in the 2014 drama The Falling, playing a precocious teenager opposite Maisie Williams.[1] In 2016, Pugh starred in the independent drama Lady Macbeth, a film based on Nikolai Leskov's novella Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, and appeared in the first series of the ITV detective series Marcella.[2] From 2019 to present day, Pugh has experienced international recognition through her roles in Ari Aster's horror film Midsommar[3] and Greta Gerwig's Little Women both in 2019.[4] Pugh in 2020 then went onto portray Yelena Belova, a spy, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film Black Widow.[5] She went onto reprise the role in the Disney+ series Hawkeye in 2021.[6] In 2022, Pugh starred in the thriller Don't Worry Darling, directed by Olivia Wilde.[7]At the 79th Venice International Film Festival, critics deemed Pugh's performance superior to the film.[8]
In March 2022, Pugh and Austin Butler were reported to be in talks to star in the film as Princess Irulan and Harkonnen heir Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, respectively.[9][10] In August 2022, once production moved to Abu Dhabi, Pugh went onto finish her scenes in that same month.[11][12]Interestingly, Pugh delivered Princess Irulan's opening narration during her first day of filming and for the overall production.[13]
