- "Another sleepless night. The sound of the wind reminds me of the distant echoes of battle. I can't help but think of my son, out there in the desert fighting for our beloved Duke. I've heard rumors that Aric was involved the the incursion at Three Rock Station and that the confrontation became very bloody. But still, he writes that his spirits remain high. I pray for his safety and the swift end of this bloodshed."

Biography[]
Background[]
Fiona Thorne's son Aric was a member of Gurney's Own, an elite strike force that served House Atreides in the War of Assassins. He sent recordings to her in which he spoke of his drive to remain determined despite the visciousness of House Harkonnen. The Atreides had several victories, but many their soldiers died, including Aric's friends. Gurney's Own were deployed to weaken Harkonnen resources on the Easten Shield Wall, with Aric telling his mother that despite their triumphs, he was losing his resolve due to the bloodshed and seeing his own comrades commit despicable acts. Aric was declared missing in action later that month, leaving the devastated Fiona to question the necessity of the conflict.[1]
Awakening[]
Redondo Monroe played recordings of Aric's messages and Fiona's diaries on an episode of Through Their Eyes: Firsthand Accounts from the Frontlines, though much of the recordings of Fiona were heavily edited due to her critical comments about the war.[1]
