Feyd-al-Feyd[1] (d. 1051) was a Bashar of the Sardaukar. There was a rupture with the Sardaukar forces in 1027 AG, during which Feyd revolted and usurped the Golden Lion Throne as Emperor Feyd I, establishing the House of Feyd as the new Imperial House. Feyd then ruled as Emperor of the Known Universe until his death.
Biography[]
Feyd was originally from Ibleam III.[2] During a rupture with the Sardaukar forces in 1027 AG, the Sardaukar Bashar Feyd usurped the throne[2] from Emperor Audrii II,[3] killed all close imperial relations, and suspended the Landsraad.[2] Feyd's ambitions were supported by his demicousin, Lord Aleksandr IV Harkonnen. Aleksandr was however executed by Feyd in 1029, with his small son, Count Vladimir II Harkonnen, placed in a foster home.[1]
Two Atreides counts, Demetrios IX Atreides and Paulos II Atreides, quickly attempted to organize resistance against Feyd's rule and were thus branded as traitors. The Sardaukar, formerly Feyd's supporters, also rebelled against the usurper and joined the hastily-organized Atreides army in attacking Ibleam III. The rebels were defeated by Feyd's Imperial Fleet, dooming their revolution.[2] Although Demetrios, Demetrios's son Pausanias, as well as Paulos's son Isaak had all been killed in the battle, Feyd still took revenge on the family. Paulos was attainted, stripped of all lands and titles, and condemned to be killed on sight. More distantly related Atreides also suffered; Iakobos Atreides was banished from his estates, Baron Ioannes Atreides (of the House of Atreides Pelops) was executed for high treason and his son Konstantinos sold into slavery, Baron Aimilianos Atreides had to cede half his lands to Feyd, Lord Alexandros Atreides was dismissed from his imperial posts, Lady Dunamis Atreides was sent to an imperial brothel for a year, and many Atreides children (such as Odusseus Atreides) were apprenticed to tradesmen and sheepherders. The main Atreides fief at the time, Aramanli, was given to Baron Andreas von Wikkheizer.[2]
Paulos continued to fight against Feyd's forces, fleeing beyond the bounds of the Imperium. He brought with him the last survivors of House Corrino, including the recognized heir, Prince Corrin. From the boundaries of the Imperium, his forces conducted intermittent running battles with those of Feyd. Although Paulos was killed in an attack on his headquarters in 1044, his young son Alexios escaped with Prince Corrin.[2]
Feyd died in 1051, secure on the throne, and was succeeded by his son Estil II.[2]
