"The betrothal remains, Halleck. A signed and sealed agreement. Or do the Atreides no longer keep their word?"
―Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen to Gurney Halleck[src]

Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen was the nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen and the younger brother of Glossu Rabban.

Biography[]

Background[]

Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen was intended by the Bene Gesserit to marry Ariste Atreides in order to produce the Kwisatz Haderach. However, he held a bullfighting match before they signed the marriage contract and his brutality during this event (which included presenting the heads of dead slaves to Ariste) led Ariste to call it off.[1] This infuriated Feyd, who became obsessed with her and hoped to kidnap her to force her into marrying him.[2] [3]

Awakening[]

Feyd travelled to the wreckage of the Ixian frigate, the Hephaestus, after picking up a distress call which he belived to be related to Ariste. Upon the ship, he encountered the Prisoner and recruited them to help him locate the highborn passenger who had sent the distres call. In return, he agreed to help them find a decoder. Removing the captain's eye, he used it to activate a scanner, lower the pentashield and enter the command bridge. Fighting their way through suboids, they found the bridge deserted. Gurney Halleck then contacted them via a solido projector and revealed that Ariste was never on the ship, which was a trap for Feyd. He triggered the explosives in the ship's fuel chambers, but the sandstorm raging outside interfered with the detonator's signal, allowing Feyd and the Prisoner enough time to escape from the wreck.

Upon escaping, Feyd travelled to The Salusan Bull, where he saw the Prisoner meet with Ariste and Zantara. He then went to alert the Sardaukar of Zantara's presence.[3]
