In a cut passage from Dune Ernso was the Goldsmith father of Gurney Halleck, sold to slavery on Pedmiot to Glossu Rabban Harkonnen. He embedded a curse, urging God to destroy the evil House Harkonnen on Rabban's knife. A court lackey recognised the script and it became a popular joke at the court. Eventually Rabban found out and hung Ernso over a Chirak nest, sending his family to the slave pits. A ballad was written of his life.
