The Empire of a Thousand Worlds[1] (11200–11005 BG) was the last stage of the First Empire. The name indicates that humanity by this point extended to some thousand interstellar planetary colonies besides the imperial capital of Ceres.
The First Empire was by this point considered an empire in name only, as communication difficulties had made imperial power so diffuse as to be nonexistent. A rebellion in 11105 BG destroyed Ceres and a singular imperial capital ceased to exist, ending the First Empire and beginning the Age of Pretenders.[1]
