The Empire of Ten Worlds[1] (12200–11200 BG) was a late stage of the First Empire. The name indicates that humanity by this point extended to at least ten interstellar planetary colonies besides the imperial capital of Ceres.
The discovery of the Suspensor-nullification effect in 13004 BG[1] had allowed mankind to increase space exploration and colonization.[2] This however began to threaten the integrity of the empire, since the centrality crucial for imperial administration became impossible to maintain when communication from one end of the empire to the other no longer was possible.[2] The time of the Empire of Ten Worlds was a time when communications were becoming increasingly strained. By 11200 BG, the empire had transitioned into the Empire of a Thousand Worlds.[1]
