Duke was one of the titles given to a head of a Ruling Clan, or House during the time of the Faufreluches. It was usually bestowed upon the head of a House that ruled a Duchy as a siridar fief.
House Atreides was headed by a Duke.
Other titles for House leaders included Baron, Archduke, and Count. Senior women in Households were often given the title of Lady.
