Biography[]
Dorotea was teaching the new acolytes when she met Valya Harkonnen, whose parents had sent here to Wallach IX to train with them. She didn't believe Valya had what it took and wouldn't be able to put the Sisterhood above all else. When the time came for them to take their vows, she waited until Valya was the last one standing and then left, saying she didn't want to play a game of wills. As Valya got closer to their Mother Superior Raquella, Dorotea became jealous and this caused a division in the Sisterhood. Raquella called them both to her and said they couldn't be divided. She wanted each of them to undergo the Agony test. Dorotea was ready for this, but when Raquella went to put the poison in Valya's eye, Valya took up and left.[1]
When Raquella was dying, Dorotea held her hand and tried to comfort her, but Raquella asked for Valya. At Raquella's funeral, Valya spoke out and said they needed to carry her legacy forward and push the boundaries of what it means to be human. Dorotea then stepped in and said that humility was the foundation of their virtues.
Dorotea then went to destroy the breeding index, wanting the Sisterhood to return to its values. Valya objected to this, as she believed it went against what Raquella wanted. Before she could destroy it, Valya used The Voice to stop her and instead persuaded Dorotea to kill herself.[2]
When Lila used the poison to talk to her foremothers in the hope that it would allow them to clarify Raquella's prophecy. She under the influence of the poison, Lila talked to who she thought was her mother, only to have the woman, Dorotea, tell her that her mother wasn't there, that that was just a lie they told her to get her to take the poison. She showed Lila that Valya used The Voice to get her to kill herself.[3]
Dorotea then took over Lila's body as Raquella had before her and escaped by sedating Jen, who had been left to watch her. She went to the other Sisters and told them that Valya had been lying to them. She told them the truth about her death and showed them proof that Valya had killed all the Sisters who remained loyal to Dorotea after her death. Then she led them into the storeroom, where she destroyed Anirul and promised to lead them back onto a righteous path.[4]
