The Cult of Sheeana was a religious organization established by the Bene Gesserits, then the New Sisterhood, to raise the mystique and demi-god like characteristics of Sheeana Brugh to the populace of the Known Universe.
When the knowledge that Sheeana could guide and control the sandworms of Rakis, the Bene Gesserit and Priests of the Divided God were the first to take notice. Sheeana became a type of folk hero and champion for the populace of Dune, even as she was growing into woman-hood. Later, when the Honored Matres destroyed the sand-world, it was believed by human-kind that Sheeana had perished in their Obliterator-led onslaught. Of course, at the last minute; Sheeana, Mother Superior Darwi Odrade, and a sandworm had escaped from Rakis and had been whisked away secretly to Chapterhouse.
Sheeana lived completely clandestinely on Chapterhouse, and the knowledge that she was there, was known only to the upper hierarchy of the Sisterhood. Later, after the death of Odrade; and Sheeana having become a Reverend Mother, Murbella returned from the battle above Junction, and announced that the Honored Matres and Bene Gesserit were merging, to form the New Sisterhood.
Sheeana, disbelieved in Murbella's plans, and with a handful of ultra-conservative sisters, escaped from Chapterhouse in the no-ship that imprisoned the gholas of Duncan Idaho, Miles Teg, and the Tleilaxu Master Scytale. The no-ship was then almost caught in the Enemy's tachyon net and Idaho, piloting the vessel, took the city-sized starship into another universe, and destroyed the ship's navigational charts. Sheeana was presumed gone by the New Sisterhood.
