Creel was a member of the Second Deep Desert Expeditionary Force. They received a report from scouts of House Harkonnen bastion in Dejum Wati. Seven Atreides cohorts were deployed in a coordinated attack and they were victorious, despite the Harkonnen troops being more viscious than normal. Despite the victory, heavy losses were sustained and Creel was traumatised and disillusioned by the experience.[1]
Awakening[]
Creel recounted his experience at Dejum Wati to Redondo Monroe on Through Their Eyes: Firsthand Accounts from the Frontlines. During the interview, he expressed cynicism over the principles of Kanly and the Great Convention, as he and his fellow soldiers had done things that drained them of their humanity. Monroe attempted to steer the conversation in a more positive direction by asking about moments of hope and comraderie, but Creel recalled fleeting bright moments within an overwhelming darkness and. He concluded by revealing that he was haunted by horrific experiences and struggled the celebrate the successes and victories. Monroe thanked Creel for his service, which was little comfort to him.[1]
