The Corrino Empire, also known as the Corrino Imperium or simply the Imperium and later the Old Imperium, was a galaxy-wide empire ruled over by House Corrino and maintained by various forces, including the Landsraad, the Spacing Guild and the CHOAM company.
The empire was established in the year 88 BG following the Battle of Corrin, and lasted until the Duke Paul Atreides usurped Shaddam Corrino IV after the epochal Arrakis Revolt and founded the replacing Atreides Empire in 10196 AG. The seat of power of the Imperium was initially the planet Salusa Secundus, the traditional home of House Corrino. However, it was later moved to Kaitain following the ecological devastation of Salusa Secundus.
The Corrino Empire provided a socioeconomic and political framework within which the Faufreluches class system could operate, allowing for the development of numerous upper and lower castes.
The population of the empire was at least tens, if not hundreds of billions. It’s known that the Fremen were not in the official imperial census.
