Emperor Audrii III[1] reigned as Emperor of the Known Universe five times between 1892 AG and 1993 AG, during the Era of the Princes. He was a cousin of his predecessor, Sidir VI.[1]
Audrii's brief reigns and frequent depositions and restorations were the result of the machinations of House Atreides, economically dominant in this period. Phillipos III Atreides and Markos Atreides forced a rapid turnover of emperors, seeking to prevent any one dynast from achieving too much power.[2]
Reigns[]
Audrii first became emperor in 1892 AG, succeeding his cousin Sidir VI. He ruled until 1897, when he was replaced with his second cousin Corrin V. Audrii was restored to the throne in 1937, succeeding Corrin V, though was replaced with Corrin again already in 1938.[1]
Audrii's third reign began in 1961, when he succeeded Sidir VI's son Negara III. He only ruled until 1962, when he was succeeded by Menemtahe III. Audrii was restored for a fourth reign in 1969, again succeeding Corrin V, but was replaced in the same year by Costin IV. Audrii's final restoration to the throne was in 1990, briefly replacing Menemtahe IV, who in turn replaced Audrii in 1993.[1]
