Assan Tariq [d. 10219 AG] was the child guide of The Preacher. He tried to kill the Preacher and Leto Atreides II by means of activating a Pseudo-shield in the desert, attracting a Sandworm. Leto, using his newfound strength from the Sandtrout, snapped Tariq's neck and flung the shield away.

Tariq was bony[10] and had dark eyes.[9]
