The Age of Pretenders[1] (4915–4921 AG) was a chaotic six-year period[1] that began after the murder of Emperor Mikael II in 4915 AG,[2] during which no less than eleven individuals ruled the Imperium in turn.[1]

After Mikael's death, power was first seized by Emperor Avelard VIII Sulaiman, who ruled for merely two weeks. Avelard was succeeded by the imposter Emperor Corrin XII, who ruled for only two days. Power was then taken by Sidir XVI, who governed the Imperium as Lord Protector 4915–4916. Sidir was followed by a series of briefly ruling emperors in 4916–4917: Alver I Reginaud (4 hours), Audrii VI (3 months), Liard (5 weeks), and Turenne (10 days).[1]

Turenne was followed as ruler by Phyfe, who governed the Imperium as Duke Protector in 4917–4919. Thereafter followed another series of briefly ruling emperors: Layard Menemtahe VIII (4919–4921), Biron Rhibera (1 day), and finally Julian (6 weeks).[1]

After Julian there was a brief republican restoration in the form of the Third Republic (4921–4935).[1] The legitimate Corrino heir, Corrin XIII, was finally proclaimed emperor in 4935.[2]
